What is considered a Pre-Existing Condition?

Generally, a Pre-Existing Condition is any accidental injury or illness for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment has been recently recommended or received before a policy’s effective date.

Tin Leg considers travelers to have a pre-existing condition if there have been any changes to their medical history (like those listed above) within 180 days prior to the date they purchase their policy. If a traveler has had changes to their medical history, these conditions would be excluded from coverage, unless their policy includes coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions.

Conditions that are stable during this 180 day period are not considered pre-existing, and can be covered under standard Emergency Medical and Cancellation coverage.

In order to be eligible for Pre-Existing Condition coverage on all Tin Leg policies, the policy must be purchased within 14 days of the traveler’€™s initial trip deposit date. This is the date of the first flight booking, hotel reservation, or cruise deposit. There is no additional premium charge for Pre-Existing Condition coverage.

Pre-Existing Condition coverage applies to the traveler and their traveling companions as long as they are stable at the time the policy is purchased.
