Generally, a Pre-Existing Condition is any accidental injury or illness for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment has been recently recommended or received before a policy’s effective date.
Tin Leg considers travelers to have a pre-existing condition if there have been any changes to their medical history (like those listed above) within 180 days prior to the date they purchase their policy. If a traveler has had changes to their medical history, these conditions would be excluded from coverage, unless their policy includes coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions.
Conditions that are stable during this 180 day period are not considered pre-existing, and can be covered under standard Emergency Medical and Cancellation coverage.
In order to be eligible for Pre-Existing Condition coverage on all Tin Leg policies, the policy must be purchased within 14 days of the traveler’s initial trip deposit date. This is the date of the first flight booking, hotel reservation, or cruise deposit. There is no additional premium charge for Pre-Existing Condition coverage.
Pre-Existing Condition coverage applies to the traveler and their traveling companions as long as they are stable at the time the policy is purchased.
